How to update the software directly in Apple Watch on watchOS 6
Previously, to update watchOS of your Apple Watch, you needed an iPhone to do it with the help of Watch App. But with the latest watchOS 6 , it is now possible to update the software directly in Apple Watch without using an iPhone. Yes, you heard right, you dont need an iPhone anymore to update watchOS in Apple Watch.
This is a convenient way to upgrade to the latest version of watchOS. From now on, watchOS 6 is still in beta phase and will be available to the public at the end of this year, perhaps during the autumn. So today, I will show you how to update the watchOS software directly on Apple Watch without using your iPhone.
How to update the WatchOS software directly in Apple Watch
Before continuing with the update, you should take care of these three things.
- Make sure your Apple Watch has at least 50% battery life or more during the update.
- Do not remove or restart your charger during the update and installation.
- Keep your Apple Watch connected to WiFi and make sure it doesnt get stuck between updates.
Once you are sure of the above things, continue with the following procedure to update the watchOS 6 software directly on your Apple Watch.
Step 1. Launch the Settings application in your Apple Watch and tap General .
>Step 2. Now choose the option Software Update from the general settings, it will now check for updates. If the watchOS update is available, tap the option Download & Install .
>Step 3. Once the update has been downloaded to the Apple Watch, tap Install then tap Continue.
In case something goes wrong during the installation and you are thinking of degrading the software, let me tell you that degrading watchOS 6 is not possible at all. The only way to do it is to visit your nearest Apple Store and try your luck! They could do it, but Im not sure about that!
