How to add location to photos and videos in the Photos application in Mac OS X

Organizing your photos with their location information was not possible until Apple released OS X The Captain 10.11.3. With that update, organizing photos in the Photos application became much easier. Now you can organize your album according to the location you clicked on.

You may have some photos in the application that contain the location information, while there are some without the information. So, before continuing with the guide, we will have to sort all the photos without location information, so it would be easy to add details to them. This can be done by creating a smart album. So, lets understand how to do it.

How to create smart albums with photos without location

Step 1. Open the application Photos on Mac and click on File followed by New album Smart .

>Step 2. Assign a name to your smart album by entering it in the field † below the smart album field, in ? Match the following conditions ? select Photos in the first field † Just next to where you selected ? Photos ?, select ? no ? In the last option, select ” GPS tagging ” and click ” OK “.

Step 1. In the application Photos , select the Album smart that you have just created and click on any of the images.

Step 2. Keep the photo selected and press Command + I to get the file information.

Step 3. Now click in the field that says ” Assign Location “.

>Stage 4. Write the location in the field and the Photos application will automatically provide you with the suggestion. Please note that this information is derived from Apple Maps and therefore needs to be connected to the Internet.

Step 5. Click on the location of the suggestions provided and then press the Return key on your keyboard.
